Blood of the Loom
A poem on Welsh weaving heritage
From mountain and valley, the threads were spun,
By calloused hands and the warmth of the sun.
Patterns of Cymru, bold and true,
Stories of ancestors breaking through.
Not cloth alone, but a lifeblood claimed,
Each weave a spirit, each colour named.
Blankets of Wales — our birthright, our chains,
Running fierce through our hearts, our veins.
They are love, they are labour, they are home’s embrace,
The soul of a people time cannot erase.
To wrap in a blanket is to carry the past,
A heritage woven, eternal, steadfast.
